Green Philosophy

At The Sixth Element School, we believe that in addition to imparting holistic education, it is our duty to sensitize our students about sustainability. We achieve this by immersing them in a sustainable lifestyle through their everyday activities at school.
When designing our school, we emphasized creating a green campus with zero discharge and a low carbon footprint. We embraced the challenge of finding simple and unconventional approaches that maximize the use of natural energies with minimal reliance on complex technologies. This approach not only made the project more cost-effective but also disproved the general industry notion that green buildings are inherently more expensive to construct. Our design takes cues from traditional Indian architecture, where old forts and palaces remained cool in the summers and warm in the winters without modern technologies.

The results have been impressive:

Energy Requirement

Our total energy consumption is 40% lower compared to conventional buildings.

Air Conditioning

Our HVAC system usage is reduced by 60% compared to traditional buildings.

Construction Cost

We achieved a savings of approximately 8-10% in our overall construction costs.

Some of the key features of our sustainable architectural design include:

  • Ceiling Heights: Designed to optimize natural ventilation and reduce the need for artificial cooling.
  • Walls: Constructed using materials that provide excellent insulation, keeping indoor temperatures stable.
  • Conditioning of Circulation Spaces: Utilizes natural ventilation instead of mechanical equipment.
  • Central Atriums with Natural Ventilation: Strategically placed to enhance air circulation and light distribution.
  • Windows: Positioned to maximize natural light and airflow, reducing reliance on artificial lighting and cooling
  • Lighting: Energy-efficient lighting systems that adjust based on natural light availability.
  • Air Conditioning: Minimal use of air conditioning, with systems designed for maximum efficiency where necessary.
  • Outdoor Sports: Equipped with sustainable landscaping and minimal-impact facilities to promote physical activity while respecting the environment.
  • Plant Room Placement and Cooling: Strategically placed to optimize energy use and cooling.
  • Horticulture: Incorporates native plants that require minimal water and maintenance.
  • Rain Water Harvesting: Systems in place to capture and reuse rainwater for various purposes.
  • Roofs: Designed with materials that reflect heat, reducing the need for cooling.
  • Sewage Treatment: On-site treatment plants that recycle water for use in landscaping and other non-potable applications.
Through these initiatives, The Sixth Element School not only provides a sustainable learning environment but also instills in our students the importance of living sustainably, preparing them to be responsible global citizens.
