Bird Wall / Sandpiper

Sandpiper

Native to India, Sandpipers are commonly found in wetlands. They are recognized by their thin, piping cries and a distinctive “dead-grass” pattern of browns, buffs, and blacks on their upper parts, complemented by white or cream coloring below. The name “Sandpiper” derives from their habit of running along sandy shores or mudflats while uttering these cries. Fun fact: Their name originates from their coastal habits.
